Maybe I should give 2 stars because they did finally finish the bathroom remodel. Brent (sales) estimated 7-10 days and from May20 to Sept29, 2021 my house was in shambles. Tom (president) measured incorrectly and Mark (carpenter) blindly installed items wrong time and again. It's far from expert installation but it is finished. I also lost a cold air return vent and oven vent in the process with no resolution. Buyer beware of this company

We have used HWC twice for bathroom projects - a complete redo of the master bath and installation of a new tub and tile in a secondary bathroom. HWC completed both jobs in the time frame quoted, in the budget quoted and always left the job site clean at the end of each day and the end of the job. We are pleased with the work and appreciated their recommendations when they ran into little hiccups as the job progressed.

My experience with HWC has been far from great. First, I do want to say that the end results are fine and our contractor (Jim) was wonderful and we enjoyed having him on our project. Madison in the office was great once the project started in keeping us updated. The problem lies in the sales and the gentleman who was assigned to our project, Kurtis.
On first meeting him, he was pleasant but you can tell he read the book on "sales". No big deal, I run a business and am older, so it's not like I haven't run into the sales pitches and sales people before, they are just doing their job. I had decided on HWC because they would take care of all aspects of the project (minus painting) and It seemed like it would be easier and well worth the price to just let them handle it all.
I did check the BBB and their reviews, did my homework, most reviews were favorable and I had family members use them for remodel projects as well, So I had every confidence and felt we were in good hands. When signing the paper work (Mid-March 2021) and paying our deposit. I was told it would be May possibly early June before the project would begin, which was fine.
Being that I work full time including weekends, I do not have a lot of extra time for extra projects, so come mid-May I began to pack up the kitchen and dining room. So we lived in and out of boxes for a bit. Not having heard from Kurtis or anyone else, minus a gentleman who came out to take some measurements. Mid-June, I called to find out when to expect them.
Of course, Kurtis offered the Mid July because of issues in the supply chain and numerous other excuses. I totally understand the supply chain issues, I deal with those on a daily basis in my own business. What I didn't understand is why there was no communication from him what so ever as to when the project would actually start. A Short email or text would have been appreciated.
I contact Kurtis on July 1st to ask when in July and he was going to get back to me. I asked if I could expect everything to be wrapped up by Labor Day (initially he told me the entire process would take up to three weeks) and he told me yes. Crickets again, until August 1st (exactly one month later and still no word), I emailed him and said, "will the project start this month?".
More crickets until finally Kurtis stepped up and did the manly thing and had a young girl from their office call and said that our project start date would be October 5th (was not impressed that he couldn't contact me himself). Being that was five months after what I was originally told and being that the living out of boxes lifestyle was getting a bit old, I told him that I wanted to cancel the project, he told me I would lose our deposit.
Someone else from HWC called and said mid-September, I did agree to that. Communication with HWC up until the project started was the worse communication from a company and representative that I have ever dealt with. The project started, and had a few issues (nothing major) along the way. Things that Kurtis and I discussed mainly through emails (which help to back track) had to be brought to his attention.
Every time I brought something up, I was offered excuse after excuse from Kurtis. The only conversation he had with my husband he contradicted himself a couple of times leaving my husband shaking his head, confused. Kurtis would contradict himself in just a few sentences speaking to you. Although it did help my husband understand my frustration quite a bit better with HWC & Kurtis.
I could go on and on and in more details about the billing issues and things promised that were not followed up on, but I should have asked more questions and not relied on the answers I was given as truth but merely a "sales" guy just telling me what I wanted to hear instead of being forthcoming and honest. I was made to feel "stupid" as a customer. I warn anyone who is looking into using HWC to have all communication in writing and avoid the mistake we did, and chose someone other than HWC.

We had a new countertop and backsplash installed. Everyone who came into my house was very nice and professional. Mark was the best! He answered all of my questions and went above and beyond doing little things that he didn't have to do. We are incredibly happy and would recommend HWC to everyone we know! We could not be happier with the HWC contractors. The shower installers did an amazing job and were courteous and very neat clean up. Justin and helper were very nice too. Hemir? Not sure the name is right but he and Nate did an excellent job installing vanity, vinyl flooring, linen closet doors and trim work. These two were very nice, courteous, and great clean up. Then John Gardner finished the whole project with a beautiful paint job. He did excellent work. He was also pleasant, courteous, very nice guy. We love our new bathroom.

I needed my bathroom to be remodeled as the tile grout was getting porous, had broken areas in the shower that caused injury, and because it was outdated and ugly. I chose HWC because of the many great reviews on Google. I'm very happy with that decision. Everyone I worked with at HWC was awesome. They were very helpful and communicated every step of the project. Kind, courteous, and professional. They went above and beyond my expectations. I highly recommend them and will hire them again for any future remodeling projects.

HWC has been an absolute nightmare. 10 months on a kitchen remodel and it's still not right. I have been home for the whole process and the contractors don't ask enough of my opinion. They do what they want and then you have 'discover' the slop work. Measurements off, half the cabinets had to be reordered. Don't want to pull permits. Don't communicate or write anything down.
Absolute frustration for the homeowner. No one's driving the bus. Makes the homeowner feel like an idiot for having questions about process and wanting to know what's going on. Passive about the homeowners concerns. They constantly use the excuse they've been in business for 37 years. yeah, because it takes them a full year to get a 2 month job done. Don't waste your money here.
They are all talk and no action. From what I hear they seem to have a large turn over - can't keep contractors. If they trained and invested in people and paid them outright instead of hiring contractors that would probably improve work moral. Heard there's management issues. I think they are sinking faster than the titanic.

We hired HWC to install a full bathroom that had been roughed in during home construction but was used as a closet. Tony and Hiram arrived on time each day keeping us updated on progress. Cleaned up area each day and let us know when they would return the following day. Very professional and thoughtful knowing we were working near the work zone. Appreciate the quick install of our new bathroom.

HWC helped remodel our bathroom from design to construction. The care they took to make sure our remodel met our expectations was very good. Our carpenters, Chris and Thomas were very prompt everyday and made sure we were happy with the remodel. We had a couple of changes and additions to our project and they handled them with professionalism. Their expertise and quality of work was beyond our expectations. I would highly recommend HWC for your remodeling projects.

HWC replaced our kitchen cabinet doors. No soft touch feature included. Thin, loudly banging cabinet doors. Terrible flimsy quality. Thin film of white paint straight on top of Plywood. We are ready to replace after 2 years and $ 5,500 cost as the paint chipped off and even blue "dish detergent" stains. So disappointed.

We have just finished our third major remodeling (down to the studs) project with HWC, two different bathroom projects and a full kitchen remodel. We initially engaged them on the advice of friends and could not be happier. Their design team helped us find furnishings, fixtures, and flooring that matched our taste, budget and design intentions. Their employees and sub-contractors (electrical, plumbing) were top-notch.
They were excellent craftsmen and attentive to every detail. They stayed on the project until every detail and item met all of our expectations. They were even meticulous about cleaning up everyday and communications with the office team and the on-site work team was excellent -- the kitchen lead would even text me when I was out of town for work to keep me informed and answer any questions. All in all, HWC is a GREAT team to work with.

HWC Home Works is not a company you want to deal with. They can not be trusted to do the job promised. We had contracted with them for a kitchen remodel. We decided to give ourselves and them 4 months lead time. We needed to get a plan, decide materials, order materials etc. We wanted this project completed while the kids were off school. When we began meeting, we gave them a budget of what we had to spend, took two years to save.
We started discussing our plans-likes/dislikes etc. This went on for 1 1/2 months. We get to the final stages of choosing cabinets, counter tops etc. We have an appointment in their showroom on Porter St. The night before the meeting I get an email with the final cost estimates for our remodel. He is nearly double what our budget is and had not included flooring, painting or any new appliances.
I thought there must be some mistake. Surely, he would not have had us put this much time into it, only to drop a bomb. When we went to the appointment to discuss the matter, our representative said sorry I've been really busy. We have had a lot of business lately and some staffing concerns. I thought he was kidding. We were suppose to be setting the start time.
He wasted all our time by not being prepared, not having follow-thru, and not being honest up front with what charges would be. What a frustrating experience. Now we get to start all over.
