Not Just Kitchens

We enjoyed working with A Better Home for finishing our basement. This was a big project! They were very collaborative, creative, and helpful with the design and planning from the beginning. The team and contractors were kind and great to work with. The effort and quality of work exceeded expectations. We love our new basement which includes a family area, guest bedroom, bathroom and home gym. We look forward to working with A Better Home again when we remodel our master bath and kitchen someday.

The A Better Home team completed our kitchen remodel during the midst of the pandemic. They were wonderful to work with, from the initial design through to completion. I most appreciated how well they communicated with us and that they were respectful of our time and space. We have been extremely happy with the quality of their work. Vashon paid great attention to detail and made sure that everything was done to perfection! We appreciated his craftsmanship and integrity. This company truly cares about doing the job right! Great people and great quality!

My family used A Better Home for four projects over three years. In 2016, a tree fell on our house that we had just moved into. We'd had the house remodeled by a different contractor, as you can guess we didn't go back to that contractor for a reason. We were referred to A Better Home by an independent electrician, who's a friend of mine and frequently does contracted work for A Better Home. Jeff and his crew did an awesome job.

They cleared away the damaged section of roof and put tarps up to prevent further damage. Later, when some water did find its way into the house during a different rain storm, they were very responsive and came out first thing the next morning. When they discovered that they didn't have to replace some of the frame they decreased the assessed cost of the job.

They also worked very well with our insurance (USAA). We had planned to do more work to our house, The deck and driveway were literally crumbling, We wanted an enclosed patio, and a carport. We had A Better Home do that work too. They were super responsive, very flexible, and were really great about showing us different options for our remodeling plans. A year after our last remodel and I still call Jeff for recommendations for plumbers and such. A Better Home is an awesome resource!

We were very pleased with our kitchen remodel project with A Better Home. The team adeptly handled all the details from helping us pick out finishes to our old-house peculiarities to the beautiful craftsmanship of the finished room.

After the flood in 2018 our entire lower level flooded. A Better Home not only fixed the damage from the flood, but they turned our wonderful house into an amazing home. They repaired things that were out of code, improved flow and appearance, and even turned one awkward room into two bedrooms for our growing family. This team of remodelers won't let you down - their work is beautiful, craftsmanship is on top, and their customer service is spot on.

Most recently they finished replacing our old and scary deck. The new deck is beautiful, safe, and beautiful! We look forward to them returning to do some more work on the inside.

My wife and I highly recommend A Better Home for a remodeling project. This past winter and spring, they completed a redesign and remodel of our kitchen. The design team had excellent ideas for how to expand our kitchen area and storage while still maintaining room for our dining room table. They have the capability to modify 3-D plans on the fly.

They were also helpful in vetting our choices of flooring, tile, backsplash, and paint colors. The construction team is highly skilled, easy to work with, friendly and respectful of personal space (we shared the house for much of the day for almost four months). They installed a cable railing over our stairs replacing a dated cast iron railing. They pursued bids from a couple of providers for this work which were more than we were willing to pay.

We did some research and presented them with a source for materials. They agreed to install the materials and the total cost for the installed cable railing ended up being significantly less than the bids they had received. They stayed within the agreed-upon timeline and budget and even did a few extra things as a bonus. The quality of their work was top-notch, and we couldn't be happier. They are a great team, all excellent at what they do.

I had a plan how to remodel my home. They worked with me, improved my plan, and made it affordable. Now, I have pretty much a castle to live in.

We have used A Better Home on three separate occasions: a major remodel of our basement, an entryway door replacement and most recently, installation of EZ Screen Windows on our porch. Jeff and his crew have always been very responsive and their workmanship is excellent. With remodeling, there are always a few little surprises, and I've felt they've been upfront about the issues, the options for addressing them and the resulting extra charges.

Change orders have been very fair, and any issues that were their responsibility were fixed at their expense. A very professional organization that is reflected in their staff and every subcontractor they've used on our jobs. I can highly recommend them.

We discovered A Better Home (ABH) company during the 2016 NARI Remodeled Home Tour. Our 70 plus year old home was in need of several updates. The craftsmanship of their work impressed us, and continues to impress us after 2 remodel projects with them. We delayed writing this review to assess how their work would withstand the test of time. Our basement remodel was completed in 2017 (mud room, laundry room, family room, bathroom, storage room, and all new utilities). ABH was extremely helpful in the design plans, selection of products, and the building process.

It is equally important to know their sub-contractors are held, by ABH, to their high standards. Things went so well in 2017, we felt comfortable going forward with more remodeling in 2018. This involved a kitchen, 2 bathrooms, and 2 hallways. The outcome of our remodel projects are beyond what we could have imagined. Almost every day we are thankful for how much more livable our home now is.

One and two years later, the remodel projects are looking as good now as upon completion. Words cannot express how grateful we are for the help ABH has given us. Beyond being their customers, we feel like we've found new friends along the way. This is a company that is honest, true to their word, skillful in older home remodels, and has years of experience in the industry. We were fortunate to have had them as our general contractor. I have had work done by A Better Home over the span of 13 years: kitchen, hardwood floors, and a bathroom. They are always on top of things and easy to communicate with. Once your project starts, the owner is there to follow-up on the work, almost daily. I would recommend them to anyone looking for a solid contractor for their home remodeling.
