I recently hired Norpro to gut and rehab my bathroom and install new vinyl plank kitchen floor. Norman came and quickly grasped the essentials of the project. His estimate is the most reasonable one out of the 3 bids I got. They started on the day they promised, not a day of delay. The contractors working on the project are very skillful and professional.

They finished the whole project in two weeks and the results look great. I'll hire them again in a heart beat. I recommended them to all my friends comtemplating home renovation.

I hired Norpro to do a total rehab of my kitchen and bathroom (down to the studs) as well as other significant work including rewiring the entire unit about 4 years ago. The latest problem I've had and the final straw leading to this review is problems with the tile in the bathroom shower. I had subway tile installed with thin grout lines. The grout has begun to fall out from between the tiles. 4 years may sound long but grout should last 15 years or more easily if done properly.

The floor tile they put in for the kitchen and the rest of the bathroom has been fine. I called them about the grout issue and they did come out to inspect it. I was told that the grout that hadn't fallen out yet was "fine". He offered to patch the missing grout if I had any left (after 4 years - grout more than a year old should never be used I learned from research).

He took no responsibility for the problem or for fixing it properly. Some of the other problems included having to replace a transformer for my undercabinet lights because they installed one that was undersized causing it to fail. I had to attach all the electrical cabling they used that was in the basement because they left it sitting on top of the drop ceiling.

Several repairs have been needed for the "tape and mud" job they did. The kitchen cabinets had multiple dings and dents from their installation. They were not the low bidder. I relied on other reviews but I'm extremely disappointed with the quality of their work and their willingness to correct mistakes they made.

Mihai and his group were not only professional, they left me with a high end master bathroom that I love. They were very patient with me as I asked a bunch of questions and they even helped me save money. When the shower was ripped out, they realized that the upstairs neighbor's shower had been leaking into my unit for sometime creating black mold.

They went as far as to assess the situation in the neighbor's unit for free so they knew what needed to be fixed. This company goes above and beyond to ensure a fantastic finished product.

I remodeled a master bath. They were fantastic. His crew was professional, on time and on budget. Mihai was super patient with me as it took me a while to make a few decisions. I would highly recommend this company and I would use again in the future!

Mihai and the Norpro Services team replaced our non-functioning whirlpool tub in our only bathroom with speed, professionalism, and the advice we needed to have a successful outcome. We had our old tub replaced with a large soaker tub and the surrounding tile redone. In addition, we had our bathroom vanity, medicine cabinet, and lighting replaced. Mihai was able to provide recommendations on tile and bath as well as aesthetic considerations, and most importantly, made sure that our bathroom was up to code and done right.

All of the Norpro Services professionals were efficient, ethical, and understanding. I can't recommend Norpro Services enough to anyone looking for a bathroom remodel or installation. They are fantastic professionals with the highest integrity.

We had to redo 90% of our master bathroom because there had been so much damage from leakage in our shower. The only things staying the same were the sink and toilet. The original developer installed the shower floor very badly -- cheap materials, no pitch on the threshold, and a bad seal around our shower drain. We had to replace much of the flooring underneath the shower and some of the ceiling in the room below.

The tile was so damaged from constant leakage that we opted to retile the entire shower and bathroom floor. We found NorPro online and they came to the rescue. With Mihai as our GC we had, quite simply, a perfect experience with NorPro: zero negatives and many positives. Mihai couldn't have been easier to work with. He communicates extremely clearly, which matters a lot, especially when, as in our case, there are some complicated details involved.

But communicating clearly is one thing; being responsive is another, and Mihai did both. He was quick to answer email as well as text messages whenever we had questions or concerns. We had a quote within 24 hours of our first meeting with Mihai, and when we needed to make some changes, he followed up with a revised quote, again within 24 hours. Also, after construction began, when some major noise issues arose because of our bathroom location very close to our neighbors' bedroom, Mihai was very responsive to our request to give us advance notice for the noisier parts of the project so that we could in turn give our neighbors a heads up the day before (Mihai's subcontractors were also very respectful about starting any such jobs during regular business hours).

We were beyond impressed with everyone Mihai hired: a tile installer, a plumber, a carpenter, a glass door specialist, and a painter, along with their assistants. The subcontractors were uniformly polite and friendly, happy to answer questions if they came up and quick to consult where decisions were required. We also felt completely comfortable with any of them in our house while we were there and while we were away.

In fact, we ended up needing to have about half the work done while we were abroad for a week, and we were proven right in our complete trust of Mihai and all of his crew. I do want to give an extra shout-out to Mihai's tile installer, Marian. We are so happy with the results of his work! We opted for porcelain tiles to replace the slate originally installed by the developer, partly for looks but mostly because it promises to be less prone to leakage and less susceptible to erosion. Marian did a truly beautiful job with the materials and the challenging designs we asked him to work with. Finally, NorPro was 100% on time at every stage of the project, which is rare, as I'm sure most readers of this website know.

There were also no surprise charges at the end of the project. We paid exactly what we were quoted. With these two achievements, combined with their brilliant repair and installation work overall, NorPro hit the trifecta for us. We will certainly hire them again the next time we have a project in their bailiwick.

Mihai coordinated a bathroom project for us -- taking out an old tub and replacing/installing a new one, as well as redoing the tile/paint surrounding it. Because of circumstances outside of his control (the first tub installed had manufacturer defects, and then the 2nd tub also had issues), the project took much longer and required several extra visits from Mihai and his crew.

He always took the time to fit us into his busy schedule once we were able to take the next steps through the process. The final outcome looks great, and Mihai managed expectations within each phase, pointing out potential hurdles and costs before they were incurred. He did a great job.

There was a problem with cracked floor tiles and shifting toilet bowl in my bathroom - weren't sure what was causing the problem. Mihai Ghiurcuta from Norpro Services explained the potential issues and set a date to start the project which they kept. Once Norpro dug up the floor they were able to diagnose the problem and correct it, keeping me posted with clear explanations and pictures. The results are terrific and the price was fair. I'm very grateful I found Norpro and I can heartily recommend Mihai and his team to others in need of a contractor.

Exceptional contracting experience! Mihai Ghiurcuta is an owner that communicates early and often and does exactly what he agreed to do on time. His tile installer Marion has attention to detail and a spirit of excellence like none other. Marion does not rush his perfection and aims to have esthetic symmetry. Mihai offers competitive price but most importantly delivers exceptional value and someone that I would not only recommend but will use again.

His team is very respectful of the homeowner's property and I felt quite comfortable leaving the house to run a quick errand while Marion was working. If you are tired of disappointing results and a contractor who does not honor his word then come over to Norpro to experience the difference of old-world craftsmanship!

Living on the Gold Coast has been a challenge for getting quality work performed at reasonable prices. We are more often than not disappointed in the workmanship of people we hire. But NORPRO is the exception: they are fabulous. We had the privilege of scheduling our plumbing work directly with Mihai. Best group we have ever worked with. Have lived in our home for 18 years and have gone through many trades folks.

First time someone has given an estimate that was fair, and then stayed with it. And the work they performed was fabulous, especially Daniel & Florin. I would suggest this group for their professionalism and attitude.

After making the determination that it was time to remodel our existing bathroom, my wife and I decided to gets bids from multiple contractors for pricing. We didn't really have any set idea on what we wanted done, so we let contractors give us their best ideas. After interviewing a few contractors and realizing the pricing that I was getting back was over our budget, I went on Yelp and found Norpro. Mihai and his team turned my out of date bathroom into a great modern bathroom.

Although Norpro does not provide direct design assistance, all of the vendors that he suggested turned out to be great. I would highly recommend Norpro if you are looking to renovate your bathroom. With the money that we ended up saving we actually did a little remodeling of our second bathroom, kitchen and some misc. painting around our place as well.

Just know that your project will be much more successful with Norpro if you have a clear idea of what you want. We used houzz.com to come up with some ideas on how we wanted our renovated space to look. You will also have to make sure that you have the time to pick up some of the material and meet with the vendors. Norpro is more hands off, but is great if you know what you want.

This is the 2nd time I worked with Mihai. I highly recommend anyone who want to do some renovation to talk to Mihai first, let him have a chance to serve you. Both experience are great. I asked him to installed tiles in the laundry room, and a range hood. Because last time, the experience was so great, I just gave Mihai the lockbox and he managed to finish the job without me supervising in the condo.

The job was done professionally, and quickly. I had a big renovation in my condo, and interviewed several grade A contractors from Angie's list. A good contractor will finish what he has quoted you and explains the work in detail, and an excellent contractor will go beyond that. During the tile installation, Mihai told me that there was water leakage sign on the drywall, and he found that the leakage was due to the hot water valve and suggested me to hire another plumber to take a look. I was very happy to work with Mihai again. I would definitely suggest him to my friends.

Norm is great. We hired him for a bathroom remodel recently, and he and his team did excellent work. Norm was easy to reach any time we had questions or needed to discuss the details of the project, and his crew was easy to work with as well--all really nice guys. They stayed on budget and were very respectful of our place. They also bent over backwards to meet a demanding deadline. we had people coming to stay at our house, and they made sure we had a fully functional bathroom in time for their visit. We would definitely use them again.

Being new to Chicago I was very worried about finding a new contractor in the big city- I am very picky and was spoiled by my contractor of many years in my small city. When it became apparent we needed to either remodel our master bath or move, we went to Community Home Center and they highly recommended Norpro. We took a chance and couldn't be happier. Norm, the owner, was very professional-he came by almost every day and inspected what had been done.

He always answered calls and emails (that in itself is pretty amazing.) He also passes on his professional discount to the customer, which not everyone does. In short, Norm is honest, professional, accessiblle, and has a talented crew. And our bathroom is awesome! Judie H

Norm from Norpro is the only contractor I have ever met that actually sticks to the projected schedule. They are fast, pleasant, do great work and I would never hire another contractor. He completed a full kitchen remodel for me in 6 weeks and has since done numerous other jobs for us in both our rental property and our home. He has done work for a number of our friends who have also found him to be excellent. He isn't the cheapest, but he is the best.

I hired Norpro to do some remodeling work in our basement. Norm's guys put up walls, added electricity, primed and added trim and worked non-stop for about 2.5 weeks. When finished, we had three new rooms- including a bathroom with detailed stone tile work. The guys were on time and reliable, easy to talk with, and Norm was very responsive, as other reviewers have said- he always answered my calls.

We were on time and on budget, and the hard work was very appreciated. My only side note is that the finishing work was not consistent in some low visibility areas, but overall we are very very pleased. I would recommend Norpro to a friend and will use them again down the line! Thanks Norm!
